The Excel Youth Project
The Excel Youth Project empowers young people aged 12+ by giving them a safe, inspiring space to grow, learn and thrive. From building confidence through exciting activities to developing real world skills for education and employment, we support every young person’s emotional, social and mental wellbeing. Our programme is shaped with young people, not just for them, but also encouraging youth voice, leadership and meaningful influence. Whether they're stepping into roles like Young Ambassadors and Young Leaders, taking part in photovoice, sports leadership, cooking, creative sessions like henna, or engaging in impactful experiences such as knife‑crime workshops, Bradford Takeover Day or even visits to Parliament, Excel Youth help them discover their potential and lead the way.
The Youth Ambassador Project
The Youth Ambassador Project is led by young people who are passionate about making a difference in their community. It gives them the opportunity to take initiative, share their ideas, and turn them into action. As part of the project, participants design and deliver sessions for other young people, building confidence while creating spaces that feel relatable and youth led.
By encouraging responsibility and independence, the project helps young people develop valuable skills while actively contributing to positive change in their local area. It’s about trusting young people to lead, influence, and inspire in their own way.
The Diamond Boys Group (SEND)
The Diamond Boys Group is a supportive and engaging space for boys with special educational needs and disabilities to connect, have fun, and be themselves. The group focuses on building confidence, social skills, and independence through a range of enjoyable, structured activities tailored to their needs.
In a calm and understanding environment, young people are encouraged to develop friendships, try new experiences, and express themselves in ways that feel comfortable to them. The group celebrates each individual’s strengths, helping them grow at their own pace while feeling valued, included, and supported.
Play Rangers
Play Rangers is one of our longest running projects, providing structured after school and holiday activities for children aged 5–14. The programme offers a safe, inclusive environment with sports, games, creative sessions, and food-based activities that support children’s physical, social, and emotional development.
In response to reduced local provision and local challenges such as anti social behaviour, the project delivers positive, preventative opportunities that help children build confidence, develop key life skills, and make healthier choices. The project has been sustained through ongoing investment, and is currently funded by The National Lottery Community Fund, with additional holiday support from Bradford MDC’s Holiday Activities Fund.
The HAF Programme
The HAF (Holiday activities and food) Programme is delivered through Bradford MDC’s Holiday Activities Fund, providing children and young people with access to enriching activities and nutritious meals during school holidays. The programme supports families by ensuring children can remain active, engaged, and well nourished outside of term time.
A range of structured activities; including sports, creative sessions, and enrichment opportunities, helps participants build confidence, develop social skills, and maintain positive routines in a safe and inclusive environment. The programme also supports wellbeing, reduces social isolation, and promotes healthy lifestyles.
Mums & Daughters Sports
Every Tuesday 7:00–8:00pm, our Mums & Daughters Sports sessions offer a fun and active space for young people and their mothers to spend quality time together. This youth project encourages physical wellbeing, teamwork, and confidence through a variety of enjoyable sports and activities. It’s a great opportunity to strengthen bonds, build friendships, and stay active in a supportive and welcoming environment.
